MCALLEN, TX - Yesterday, Congressman Van Taylor (TX-03) met with United States Customs and Border Protection (CBP) agents to tour a migrant processing facility in Donna and a temporary outdoor processing site in McAllen. Representative Taylor also met with the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) for a boat tour of drug and human smuggling routes. CBP officials have stated 1.5 million people illegally crossed along the southwest border in FY21, which is three times as many in FY20.

Rep. Van Taylor stated, "Two years ago our nation had one of the most secure borders in modern history. I was proud to work with President Trump on meaningful immigration reforms that strengthened security measures on our southern border and stopped incentives for people to enter our country illegally. Since the day President Biden took office, he has actively undone the Trump Administration's progress on the border, purposefully making our southern border, and nation, less secure while he caters to the radical left." He continued, "The Biden-Harris Administration's reckless open border policies created a humanitarian, health, and national security crisis. I am outraged and heartbroken by the scenes I witnessed inside our migrant processing facilities as Biden's failures on our border leave Texas communities and hardworking CBP and DPS agents to shoulder this burden on their own. We see no end in sight and the crisis will only get worse until Biden admits he was wrong and reverses course back to the policies that were working.”
