WASHINGTON - Today, after the inauguration of President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris, United States Congressman Van Taylor (TX-03) issued the following statement:

“President Biden takes office in a time of immense challenge. Americans have lost loved ones, they have lost livelihoods, and many have lost hope that a deeply divided government, and nation, can work together again.

“Overcoming the many obstacles our nation faces requires an approach focused on truly serving the American people and ensuring our children inherit a nation just as free and prosperous as the one handed down generations before.

“Washington cannot remain enveloped in endless battles of political brinkmanship. Somewhere along the way, politicians replaced debate with ultimatums, disagreement with hyperbole, and opponent with enemy. We cannot move forward as a nation without a collective change in mindset.

“Just as I have always done with leaders on both sides of the aisle, I will look for opportunities to work with President Biden to solve the problems facing our country.

“Great collaboration and passionate debate lie ahead, but today we come together to witness the peaceful transition of power and wish President Biden, Vice President Harris, and their families the very best as they begin this journey.”

A 7th generation Texan, Congressman Van Taylor is a dedicated family man, successful businessman, and decorated Marine Officer. Taylor served Collin County both in the Texas House of Representatives and Texas Senate. Today, Taylor is proud to serve on the House Committee on Financial Services.
