WASHINGTON - On Wednesday, the House of Representatives passed H.R. 7575 the Water Resources Development Act (WRDA) of 2020. The legislation, included provisions submitted by Congressman Van Taylor (TX-03) to expedite the resolution of flooding issues in the Town of Fairview.

Specifically, Section 214 of H.R. 7575, the Water Resources Development Act of 2020 emphasizes Congressional interest in the resolution of flooding along Wilson Creek and Sloan Creek in Fairview, Texas and directs the Army Corps of Engineers to provide an update on the status of the situation to Congress.

Congressman Van Taylor (TX-03) said, "I'm excited my provision to help the Town of Fairview with the ongoing flooding they have experienced was passed by the House of Representatives. Not only will this legislation require the Army Corps of Engineers to provide an update to Congress, securing this language enables future Congressional oversight of the Corps’ efforts to better address flooding in the area. As we have seen, flooding, specifically with Wilson Creek and Sloan Creek, has caused serious consequences for families and homeowners in Fairview."
