United States Congressman Van Taylor announced the complete list of winners for the 2020 Congressional Art Competition. Following the closure of area schools stemming from the coronavirus pandemic, this year’s competition was moved to a fully online submission and art exhibition.
PLANO – Today, United States Congressman Van Taylor (TX-03) announced the complete list of winners for the 2020 Congressional Art Competition. Following the closure of area schools stemming from the coronavirus pandemic, this year’s competition was moved to a fully online submission and art exhibition.

Congressman Taylor said, “I want to thank the students who showed a true determination to rise above the adversity posed by COVID-19 to participate in this year’s competition. I applaud you for sharing your time and talent with our community and am so impressed with your artistic ability."

Winners of the 2020 Congressional Art Competition for Texas’ Third District include:

- Second Place: Oppa by Rachel Lee; Liberty High School, Hometown: McKinney
- Third Place: A Day Captured by Ananya Mahesh; Independence High School, Hometown: Plano

Building on last year’s popular People’s Choice Award, constituents from across Collin County cast their vote online for their favorite piece of artwork.

The winning artist’s work will be displayed for one year in the national exhibition located in the Cannon Tunnel, a pedestrian walkway leading to the U.S. Capitol.
The second place winner will have their artwork displayed in Congressman Taylor’s Washington office and the third place winner, as well as the People’s Choice Winner, will have their artwork displayed in his Collin County Office.
A 7th generation Texan, Van Taylor is a dedicated family man, successful businessman, and decorated Marine Officer. Taylor served Collin County both in the Texas House and Senate. Today, Taylor is proud to serve on the House Committee on Financial Services.
