Congressman Taylor Receives Financial Services Subcommittee Assignments

Congressman Taylor has been appointed to the Subcommittee on National Security, International Development, and Monetary Policy and the Subcommittee on Oversight and Investigations, as well as the Task Force on Artificial Intelligence.

WASHINGTON - Last week, the House Committee on Financial Services approved a resolution appointing Congressman Van Taylor (TX-03) to Subcommittees on the Committee.

Congressman Taylor has been named to the Subcommittee on National Security, International Development, and Monetary Policy and the Subcommittee on Oversight and Investigations. In addition, Congressman Taylor will serve on the Committee's Task Force on Artificial Intelligence.

Congressman Taylor said, "Texas’ Third Congressional District is home to hundreds of financial services companies who support more than 45,000 jobs in our community. Collin County is already the best place to live, work, and raise a family and with this announcement we can continue building upon our success. This is a huge win for our District and I'm excited to get to work."

The Subcommittee on National Security, International Development, and Monetary Policy has jurisdiction over domestic monetary policy, the international financial system, and our national security. Specifically, the Subcommittee maintains oversight of matters related to international sanctions, anti-money laundering policies, government efforts to detect and combat financing of terrorism, the Federal Reserve System, U.S. participation in international financial institutions, and the Export-Import Bank.

The Subcommittee on Oversight and Investigations is responsible for ensuring federal agencies and private entities are operating within United States law. Specifically, the Subcommittee has oversight responsibility over federal financial regulators, and is authorized to conduct investigations into allegations of fraud, waste, or abuse in the public sector, or misconduct in the private sector.

The Task Force on Artificial Intelligence examines issues including applications of machine learning in financial services and regulation, algorithms and big data, AI, Digital Identification Technologies and Combatting Fraud, Automation and its impact on jobs in financial services and the overall economy.

A 7th generation Texan, Congressman Van Taylor is a dedicated family man, successful businessman, and decorated Marine Officer. Taylor served Collin County both in the Texas House of Representatives and Texas Senate. Congressman Taylor previously served on the House Committee on Education and Labor as well as the House Committee on Homeland Security.
