WASHINGTON – Tonight, after the President delivered his third State of the Union Address to Congress, United States Congressman Van Taylor (TX-03) released the following statement:

“President Trump delivered an optimistic vision for the future touching on many of the important issues I hear from my constituents throughout Collin County. Tonight, the President talked about reducing healthcare costs, securing our nation’s borders while repairing our broken immigration system, taking care of our veterans, and continuing our record economic boom.

"However, this future is not without challenges. Socialism has gained footing within the halls of Congress and it is imperative we protect freedom for the next generation.

"Instead of succumbing to the new era of socialism, I hope Democrats will build upon this economic momentum to the address the bipartisan issues the President touched on this evening. These are not partisan issues but American issues.

"I came to Congress to achieve real results and will work with anyone committed to this goal regardless of party. I look forward to working with the President and other Members of Congress to move our country forward.”

A 7th generation Texan, Congressman Van Taylor is a dedicated family man, successful businessman, and decorated Marine Officer. Taylor served Collin County both in the Texas House of Representatives and Texas Senate. Today, Taylor is proud to serve on the House Committee on Financial Services.
