United States Congressman Van Taylor announced the twenty-nine students from Texas' Third Congressional District who received appointments to United States Service Academies or United States preparatory schools this fall.

WASHINGTON – Today, United States Congressman Van Taylor (TX-03) announced twenty-nine students from Texas' Third Congressional District received appointments to United States Service Academies or United States preparatory schools this fall.

Congressman Taylor said, "As a Marine, I understand, and appreciate, the profound impact U.S. Service Academies have on these students and their families. Texas' Third Congressional District is truly home to the best and brightest - with a record number of nominees appointed this year. These students give our community great pride and their talent, dedication, and desire to serve gives me great confidence in our nation’s future."

On Sunday, May 19, 2019, Congressman Van Taylor hosted the 2019 Service Academy Appointee Send Off Ceremony where he was able to recognize Collin County’s most hard-working, young leaders.

In addition, this fall, Congressman Taylor will host a free Academy Information Forum featuring representatives from each branch of service. This event provides students, and parents, an opportunity to learn more about each Academy and decide if military life is for them. Third District residents must be between the ages of 17 and 23 to be eligible to apply.

A 7th generation Texan, Congressman Van Taylor is a dedicated family man, successful businessman, and decorated Marine Officer. Taylor served Collin County both in the Texas House of Representatives and Texas Senate. Today, Taylor is proud to serve on the House Committee on Education and Labor as well as the House Committee on Homeland Security.
