U.S. State Department Responds to Congressman Van Taylor's Request

Additional Passport Services to be Made Available to Collin County Residents Next Week

On April 11, 2019, U.S. Congressman Van Taylor (TX-03) sent a letter to Assistant Secretary of Consular Affairs at the U.S. State Department regarding the removal of the Collin County District Clerk’s office from the State Department’s acceptable passport facilities and urging the State Department to consider the impact of reduced services on Collin County residents.

PLANO - On April 11, 2019, U.S. Congressman Van Taylor (TX-03) sent a letter to Assistant Secretary of Consular Affairs at the U.S. State Department regarding the removal of the Collin County District Clerk’s office from the State Department’s acceptable passport facilities and urging the State Department to consider the impact of reduced services on Collin County residents.

In response to Congressman Van Taylor's request, today, the Dallas Passport Office announced additional passport resources for Collin County residents will be made available next week.

Congressman Van Taylor (TX-03) stated, "As predicted, the discontinuation of passport services in Collin County has had an immediate impact on my constituents. However, I appreciate the Dallas Passport Office's swift response to my request and am pleased at the additional resources they have agreed to provide. I look forward to continuing to work towards a long-term solution to ensure Collin County residents have access to the passport services they depend on."

To make an appointment, individuals should send their name, telephone number, e-mail address, the number that will be in their party, and their anticipated arrival window (9:00 AM - 11:00 AM or 11:00 AM - 1:00 PM) to CollinPassportEvent@state.gov.

Residents are encouraged to complete applications online and bring unsigned to the acceptance event along with the following items:
  • One (1) recent 2x2 color passport photograph
  • Evidence of U.S. Citizenship (birth certificate, previous passport, naturalization certificate, etc.)
  • Photo Identification
  • Photocopy of Photo Identification
  • Passport Fees (NO CASH - payment by credit card, money order, or check only)
Note: Both parents are required to be present when applying for minor children under the age of 16. If both parents are not present, the applying parent must present notarized form DS-3053 from the non-applying parent.

A 7th generation Texan, Congressman Van Taylor is a dedicated family man, successful businessman, and decorated Marine Officer. Taylor served Collin County both in the Texas House of Representatives and Texas Senate. On November 6, 2018, Van Taylor was elected to represent Texas’ 3rd Congressional District in the United States Congress.
